Since joining the insurer in January 2018, Abbott has developed a custom centers-of-excellence program in which members have no out-of-pocket costs for surgical care at a designated center, as well as a product being used by several large companies that teams members with a customer service representative who serves as an advocate and navigator through the healthcare system. During COVID, he led efforts to launch Premera NOW, letting members enroll in a plan that provides free access to on-demand primary care.
